Two recently published studies demonstrate the developmental benefits of supplementing infant formula with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and arachidonic acie (ARA). One study, published in the April 2005 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition noted "clear differences in visual function" for term infants who, for the first year of life, were fed infant formula supplemented with DHA/ARA.
Results from the other study, appearing in The Journal of Pediatrics April 2005 issue, demonstrated enhanced growth and higher Bayley mental and psychomotor development scores for preterm infants.
